Our Story

The Beginning

Christian and Liz met in 2011, when they moved to NYC after college and joined the fixed income team at J.P. Morgan.

Quite the opposite of “love at first sight”, Christian sheepishly remembers their first conversation in the early days at the office. Christian went in suavely and confidently with, “Hi! I heard you played college basketball!”, with Liz responding , “Uhh.. Who are you..? And how did you know that..?” Thankfully, Liz has no recollection of this interaction, and Christian spent the next four years working on his pick-up lines.

The NYC Years

With this awkward moment thankfully behind them, Liz and Christian settled into their new jobs. The two quickly became inseparable, complete with daily 2pm coffee runs, Bloomberg perma-chats, happy hours at the local craft beer bar, and the occasional spin class or run in Central Park. Christian had a tradition of Dunkin’ Thursday, and he would always bring a tea back to the desk for Liz (complete with a heart-shaped donut one Valentine’s Day!).

For the next four years, Christian and Liz had a blast in NYC as coworkers and best friends, including many fun weekend trips down the Jersey Shore. Literally everyone they met assumed they were dating, and after Christian left J.P. Morgan for a new job in 2015, the pair realized that maybe the world was onto something. When Liz told her family that Christian had upgraded his status from “coworker” to “boyfriend”, their response was, “Well, it’s about time!”

The Ask

The next few years brought a lot of changes, with Christian heading to Philly for a two-year vacation (aka his MBA), Liz moving to California for free food (read: her new job at Google), and the two ultimately moving in together in San Francisco.

But the biggest change of them all happened on July 3rd, 2020 when Christian popped the question, and asked Liz to spend the rest of their lives together.

They had just taken a romantic, moonlight beach walk, and were sitting on their favorite lifeguard stand, on the beach they had often visited together over the years - first as friends, then as boyfriend/girlfriend, and now, as life partners.

Of course, she said yes!
